📢 There has been a new case of measles in Western Iowa, Washington County currently has no cases. Because this case isn't linked to anyone else, the state has now recommend getting the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine earlier than usual. Talk to your doctor to see if this is right for your child.

To see where people might have been around someone with measles, visit this website: https://hhs.iowa.gov/news-release/2025-07-22/iowa-health-officials-confirm-measles-case-western-iowa-release-locations-potential-exposures

If you were at one of those places during the times listed, click the link on that page and fill out the questionnaire.

Here’s how the faster vaccine schedule works:
👶 Dose 0 – Babies can get an early extra dose of MMR between 6–11 months old. This dose does NOT count toward the regular series.
👧 Dose 1 – After 12 months old, your child can get the first regular dose (must be at least 28 days after Dose 0).
🧒 Dose 2 – Your child can get the second dose at least 28 days after Dose 1, instead of waiting until age 4–6.

💉 Washington County Public Health can give the MMR vaccine for free—no matter what insurance you have! Thank you to Iowa Health and Human Services for making this possible.
