🚨 MEASLES ALERT: Protect Yourself & Your Community🩺

Measles is highly contagious and can cause serious illness, especially for babies and young children.

Know the symptoms:
🌡️ High fever
🤧 Cough and runny nose
👀 Red or watery eyes
🔴 Rash that typically begins on the face and spreads downward

Know the facts:
✔️ The measles virus can live up to 2 hours in an airspace after an infected person leaves the area.

✔️ Measles can be spread from person to person when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

✔️ You may become infected by touching a surface with the virus and then touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.

✔️ The MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine is the best protection against measles. Two doses are about 97% effective at preventing measles.

💡 Public Health Reminder: Staying up to date on vaccinations helps protect you, your family, and community members who may be more vulnerable to serious illness.

If you think you or your child may have been exposed to measles or develop symptoms, call your healthcare provider before visiting a clinic or hospital so appropriate precautions can be taken.

👉 Check with your healthcare provider or local public health department to make sure your family’s vaccinations are up to date.
